Unmanned Spaceflight.com _ Chit Chat _ Dinis

I wonder if I will ever be able to take my child to Mars...
To present him all the wonders we have lived so far.
To stand with him on the dunes of Eldorado...over Victoria's cliffs...on the edge of Endeavour...
The adventure has just started. A new baby, a new world, the same journeyer father...
We will be there...
Dinis was born on April the 5th, perfect has a baby can be, beautfiful has a baby can be.
I just wanted to share with the UMSF crew, the unique crew I would choose for a journey beyond the cradle, this event.
All is well. All is Ultreya.

We will be there. One day.

Yeah, that was wrong. I'm pretty sure he's talking about a baby that's named after an asteroid.

And as an American I saw the mass and size and had trouble conjuring up a good sense of scale. Then I read the post and thought, "Oh... baby-sized." 3.35 kg ≈ 1 baby-mass. I'm always learning something new here.

Congratulations, Rui.

Welcome to another metric guy! and don't tell me I was the only one to get it right when I saw the title!
I understand why you didn't post recentely: choosing a name in your HUGE name's database should have been quite a time consuming process!
Dinis will go to Mars, Rui, be sure of this!
Meanwhile, bienvenu sur Terre

And what far distant object in the Rovers eyes will you be naming after Dinis?! laugh.gif

Rui,

Congratulations. The only thing better than fatherhood... is becoming a grandfather. Trust me on this one.

Many congratulations to you, Rui, to Dinis, and to Mom. It's an excellent time for a new explorer to be born! smile.gif

Do you mean laughing, don't you Stu?... wink.gif
Thank you once more guys, here another thing...
I thought of something before the birth of Dinis that I would like to put in motion now.
A time capsule.
What’s the deal?
I would like to gather testimonies, images, dreams, desires, sounds, directions, inspiration, small details from this April 2010 and put them in a box that would be sealed to be opened only on his 12th birthday, 04/05/2022.
I would greatly appreciate help from you people I admire and from whom I learned so much to, somehow, with your varied life experiences and knowledge, to show Dinis what was the world in the year he was born, who were we in that distant year of 2010 and also open as many windows as possible, as many paths as possible, as many new worlds as possible to a new human being, Are you in? I would love that.
