Unmanned Spaceflight.com _ Mars _ Phobos Digital Terrain Model (DTM)

Posted by: Adonis Aug 6 2008, 08:41 PM

Hi,

hope someone could help me. ¿where I can find downloadable DTM data for Phobos (if possible, the entire body)?

(DTM=Digital Terrain Data, that is, a file with numeric terrain elevation data)

Thanks in advance.

Go here:

http://www.psi.edu/pds/asteroid/EAR_A_5_DDR_SHAPE_MODELS_V2_0/data/

and select the files phobos.lbl and phobos.tab - lbl is a text label describing the tab file. The tab file is a text file with three columns, latitude, longitude and radius.

That's based on Viking data. The Mars Express data will allow for major improvements, but they are still collecting data so the finished work is still a long way away. There is nothing else yet.
