I was wondering too about the Stars and Stripes. I can't imagine it would be B and W.

Looking at this picture blown up a bit, it looks like the hills have stripes or layers on them, did any one else notice that ?

I could not get the simulator working yesterday.

I went by the Phoenix site countdown...........

Less than 24 hours now..........

And bloody expensive !

So if one of the legs hits a 0.5 meter high rock dead center, what are the chances of survival of Phoenix ?

Everything that flies in space is very expensive ! All the design, testing etc makes it so.

Frankly I am amazed ANY of them ever work, because it all seems very very complicated to me. I watched the EDL landing and when Pheonix hits the ground, er I mean land, it sure comes to an abrupt stop. Can someone tell me the G forces at landing, and what the lander is designed to withstand ?

It would be cool indeed if Phoenix lands in a patch of surface frost.

I will be watching on the PC at home as we don't have nasa TV on cable.

I think the ATV looks wonderfull, like something out of Star Wars.

I meant is the electronic box thingy and that large aluminium looking plate part of the actual MSL that will be launched to Mars.

We saw them two times last week.

So is that the actual MSL that will go to mars ?

It's a paper shuttle but coated in heat resistant material.................so a flying tile..........?

I hope we do drive over there.
