Its going to take much much longer than anyone thinks to land a human on Mars, my guess not before 2050.

I see the data rate is 2.5 times greater than expected, I wonder who did those calculations and why they were so off ? But its great news of course.

Wow that article is pretty scathing. I disagree with a lot of it, though the Shuttle is expensive and a dangerous design. I still want to to see men and women in space and on Moons and Planets though.
Just my taxpaying cents worth of a Brit living in the good old US of A.

I think the lens cover on LORRI is designed just to open, its better to have a bit of dust on the lens than having a lens cover stick in the closed position.

They all seem so far far away now. The view from on top of Home Plate should be nice. Not to mention from the top of Mcool Hill, if thats where Spirit is heading.

From Emily at the Planetry Society
"Another frequent topic of email this weekend was "is there a 'Where is New Horizons Now?' feature anywhere, similar to the one for MESSENGER?" I asked about this and the answer is that it is coming soon to the New Horizons website -- stay tuned."

Range is 'no go' for launch at 1:30 p.m. because of clouds obscuring the optics for tracking the rocket at liftoff.

In that case ya'll best come back some time next week as the forcast is not too good out to Monday.............
