BepiColombo continues to work well. Here is an excerpt from the latest ESA release:

They mentioned some ongoing issues, but did not say what they were.

Fresh update on HP3: https://spaceflightnow.com/2019/04/03/insig...n-be-recovered/

The obstruction is at around 30 cm; is that too deep for the scoop to excavate nearby and find out how big the obstruction is, or if it's a layer under the whole worksite?

At the end of the day digging it out or pulling it might be needed. Where the mole is now it's not going to work.

Setback on the drilling, a two week pause, seems their good luck may have ran out...

So the current depth is 30cm. 50 cm is needed for the first temp measurement. Tough going.

Not sure if it's plausible to redeploy the instrument once it's release. There's no way to draw it back up, is there?

No, once its drilling, it's one way only.

I think a lot of us were expecting to see more detail, of course MU69 does not have the topography Pluto does. Also the pictures of Manhattan that were posted by people did really help much to give an accurate expectation. There are no Freeways or Skyscapers.

Yes! But will it be put on top in a single day's movement like the placing of SEIS itself, or will they have multiple steps?

I think the general feeling is they'd like to do it in one day, just incase you know the low chance the grapple slips off, or the lander goes into safe mode leaving the WTS swaying in the wind.

What sort of things do you think they might do with the cameras once all the important instruments are deployed and working? Mosaic of the soil near the lander? A nice time lapse showing a complete Martian sol at maybe one frame a minute?

Nothing, the mission is to listen absolutely quietly for quakes.
