A couple of new sound files from Mars!

1. 90 second clip of the rover driving over rocks. Sounds violent, my poor wheels...

2. A longer 16 minute clip.

Full story here.

I don't think the scratching noise is an interference ... If this were the case as soon as the rover stops it should disappear, instead you hear it oscillate, slow down and then stop (at about 12:24). In my opinion it is a noise that comes from the suspension.

It is wonderful to talk about this...

Thanks to the perseverance team

Have we found shale at gale before? I dont recall such an annoucement but it would be exciting to find out this was once a mud deposit. If microbes existed...the fossils would probably be in those layers. The first humans on mars would want to look at places like this

I am following this more than the new rover

Yes, in 2018 Curiosity found many organic molecules in a mudstone! If these strata turned out to be truly shale we could get much more information so that we can better study the geological context.
NASA 2018 announcement

I can't wait for Perseverance to approach the remains of the delta with the new instruments! wheel.gif

There are a few bands of darker material in the layers.

These dark layers remind me of those of flint between the limestone layers in the Gargano, in Italy.

EDIT: I add the original Martian image with an aggressive white correction for comparison.

I add, moreover that it could resemble layers of limestone and shale...

Bennu is really very small compared to Ryugu, it's as big as Itokawa ... but why doesn't Itokwa have the same shape?

In this September publication there have been many new ROLIS images ever seen and analyzed before

Roman congratulations! A crazy image! What is the resolution of this image? Is Beats images of Voyager and Galileo? I have never seen cloudy structures so clear on Jupiter!

Roman Congratulations! A resolution masterpiece! I love your elaboration, is much better than the NASA's official ones!

Why do not you make a version with natural colors?

Inspired by the work of Roman Tkachenko I made this photo where I compare the size and details of the various photos in high resolution taken during the Rosetta-Philae mission. As we can see the latest pictures of Rosetta it is much closer to those taken by philae landed it during the descent ....

Here is my small contribution to the identification of the details of your photos CIVA in photos taken by Rosetta in orbit!

Edit- I consider that philae can be slightly moved after the rotation of the "head" of 35 ° carried to term of his mission

One thing -- from the obvious orientation of the two visible legs, it looks like there should be a leg pointing almost directly at the observer's position. I don't see any signs of it...

I confirm, the legs are rotated 15-20 degrees to the observer .... probably a result of the commands sent to try to get a better orientation.
this will make it a little more difficult to draw a precise map of the areas immediately close to philae

Looking at the new map of Titan released in June 2015, I realized that, although true to 100% with the scientific data, with regard to the 'artistic aspect was not great ... I have worked to make it less visible lines of contact of mosaic, I tried to give a "realistic" color, but above all, to use the radar data to improve the resolution of the lakes and seas to the north pole.

how many chances Galileo Galilei had to see Neptune, while he was in conjunction with Jupiter? Everything is possible ... then its proximity to Alpha Centauri would have masked WISE ... we can not rule anything!
