This is my attempt at the Prometheus obs with a semi-automated method of removing the digital smuts:

I've added artificial color to the WAC clear-filtered frame of Epimetheus, approximating the view a human might have from the same vantage point.

I co-registered the CLR, IR, GRN and UV frames semi-automatically, using ImageJ's handy 'StackReg' plugin.

If anything, I was *too* conservative with the saturation of the blue hazes!

I have an exciting addendum to Phil's Surveyor 3 retro-rocket discovery, as detailed here:

Last night, I came upon the candidate crater formed by the retro-rocket impact in the Apollo 12 descent film:

It first appears at 3:24, is best seen around the 3:39 mark, and goes out of frame at 3:51.

A frame culled from the 16-mm film (shot out of LMP Alan Bean's window), is shown below alongside a crop of the highest resolution LRO frame:



My thanks to Phil for confirming what I think is a rather interesting find: a man-made crater within walking distance of one of the Apollo landing sites!

I agree with Bjorn: Pluto is more interesting that Triton .... and that's *without* any obvious signs of geysers thus far.

Here's the full crescent in color; the registration should be more accurate this time.
