Just looking at the path it's taking, I would say the rover drivers prefer level ground.

QUOTE (HSchirmer @ Jan 2 2019, 11:59 PM) *
That sounds like an excellent idea for citizen science outreach -

Found and fund a "semester at NASA fellowship" dedicated to calculating asteroid, centaur and KBO occultations of stars which occur during the next six months.

Promote that "watch list" and organize monthly dark sky "picket fence parties" where astronomy clubs and collegiate/university programs deploy multiple scopes to observe the occultations.

Bravo! You could even "sweet spot" areas to do this. Areas with good weather and infrastructure. Throw a little support in and learn about the kbo population!

Just a new thought here. Most of us have heard the "sound" of winds moving around insights solar panels audio recorded by the seismometer I think.

Could these vibrations transfer to the ground and hinder the supper sensitive seismometers work?

It's kinda weird still. Are the light areas depressions or high areas, and how was it made?

Just wondering how this long drive relates to the drilling campaign in this important transition zone

Just fantastic as always from you.

I used to look at these scenes and think - look what water has done. But because of Oppy I think - look at what fault control has done.

Long live Oppy!

Fantastic! I can see it took many hours of work to do this. The raw images show how cutting edge and daring this mission was.

It seems to me that the images are in close to chronological order. Is this true

Thanks again!

Those are fantastic results, Seán!
This PJ12 flyby is so incredibly rewarding

This preliminary version is also submitted to missionjuno/processing.
I'll need some sleep now, before I'll try to create some refined versions.

Wonderful and shows the dynamics going on there.

Tom, that is fantastic! I am old enough to remember those missions, and have always wondered how those arms worked.

Thank you for being such a Viking fan and for your hard work.

I wonder if one strategy on Titan would be to simply heat the instrument's surface enough to melt and evaporate dust, mist, etc.

I admit I don't know enough about titans cold organics, but I bet heating would help. I'm sure the people developing it will mitigate risk like crazy.

And even an examination of one site on the surface is great!

Doug Ellison has a video of the 12/22//17 launch of the spacex falcon 9 on youtube. It's just gorgeous with the city in the foreground. Also very HD and vibration free. Great rig to do that!

How do you keep parts of the copter from getting "crudded up"? Like camera lenses, propeller axels etc. And boy, that antenna better work!

Wow! That's radical. Don't think I've seen that before. I only see a trail from the wheel on the right. Was it pivoting?

I think the most amazing statistic from the Dawn journal is that the ion engines have imparted almost as much delta v as the the rocket that launched it!

Thank you. This is the kind of video my friends with little astronomy knowledge can appreciate. At my location in Iowa we had 90% eclipse and eclipse glasses sold out fast!
