A short drive on sol 3556, the weekend position. Curiosity is really close to "Bolívar". Several new targets - é, í, ã continue to be missing in some names, but I'll keep adding those. 10 years and 28.44 km do not quite sum up the wonderful travels of Curiosity. Nevertheless, here they are in a more visual form. Congratulations to the whole team. Apologies for the belated update to sol 3546, I've been travelling for the past two weeks. Hopefully I'll catch up in time to celebrate Curiosity's 10th anniversary on Mars.

Another 28m drive on sol 3544. Curiosity climbed down a bit to get to a better route between Bolivar and Deepdale, which will cross some drifts. I am sure "Paraíso" is spelt with an i acute so that is how I added it to the targets. This could easily be a Firefox problem but I haven't seen it on any other site. My thanks to all who replied. In addition to Firefox, I have the exact same issue with Chrome Version 103.0.5060.66 (Official Build) (32-bit), Microsoft Edge Version 103.0.1264.37 (Official build) (64-bit), and Duck-Duck-go for Android. A long time ago I reported that it is not possible to securely sign on to UMSF (the https port is disabled). Perhaps the site would benefit from some maintenance? Thanks. Fernando |

I am receiving an incorrect page/post when following a link to a post that is near the bottom of a page: the next page is displayed instead of the one with the referenced post. Here are a couple of examples: - Unmanned Spaceflight.com > Mars & Missions > MSL > MSL Route Map > Post #1634 link - Unmanned Spaceflight.com > Mars & Missions > MSL > MSL Route Map > Post #1725 link If, however, the post is at or close to the page's top, the correct post is displayed: - Unmanned Spaceflight.com > Mars & Missions > MSL > MSL Route Map > Post #1608 link I combed the Forum's Help but could not find an explanation. Examining the post's generated HTML no obvious differences can be seen. Any help is much appreciated. Fernando |

2022's second quarter saw Curiosity take a new strategic route to the Gediz Valley ridge, the "crocodile back" terrain of Greenheugh Pediment having proved too hazardous for the rover's wheels. After driving almost 700 metres, Curiosity drilled another hole, just as the trimester was ending, and is now thoroughly examining it. Here is a visualization of Curiosity's travels on the second quarter of 2022. In all images North is at the top. The path for sols 3431 to 3519 (April 1st to June 30st, 2022) : The above in a wider context (since sol 2009, April 1st, 2018): For the route summaries of previous quarters and their contexts please see: - 1Q 2022 Post #1725 - 4Q 2021 Post #1634 - 3Q 2021 Post #1608 Fernando _____________________________________________________________________ The Martian Way files can also be downloaded from: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OJH...BbQ?usp=sharing Included are "The Martian Way" KMZ file, User's Guide, and MSL Orbital map of Gale crater. |
