Tiptoeing indeed! 4m at a time.
This update to sol 3406 includes properly locating two targets from sol 3403: "Feorachas" and "Helmsdale Fault".

Update to sol 3403.
This KMZ has a new "Special Features" folder. The first feature is Blackthorn Salt. Double click on the name (in GE's places panel) to get a close view.

And here is an updated version of the "The Martian Way User's Guide".

The update describes the new path Arrows capability and also contains several small corrections to the text in order to make it more readable or clear.

Full update to sol 3390. This update introduces a new capability: path directional arrows (arrow tips to be exact).

When combined with the full path, the arrow tips set provides a better view of how Curiosity moved. The set is invisible by default but can made visible by selecting it from the places panel at
The Martian way ... -> Route -> Path and Sols -> Full Traverse -> Arrows

Here is an example from a particularly complex area: Pahrump Hills

Attached Image

The new kmz file and an updated version of the User's guide have also been uploaded to the drive. Due to attachement size restrictions, the User's Guide requires another post.

Yes I've seen that as well, but it contradicts what is written in other updates. ...

Thank you for your insistence on this point. I have received today the following information in a private message:
" ... the image ... on the blog is mislabelled, and should read "Blackcraig", not Maringma... working on adjusting the blog image. As a result, your labels on the maps on the forum should be reversed. As [MSL] traverse up to the pediment, Maringma is on [the] left and Blackcraig is the pointier one on the right. "

I just checked and the blog entry has been corrected already. My future maps will show the correct placement for the names.

I'd like to add that although Maringma was not imaged on sol 3149, perhaps because Curiosity ended the drive with a rock under one wheel, or because actions described on a sol are not necessarily performed on that sol, it was imaged the next sol, as described in the Mission Update for sols 3350-3352.

I hope all is clear now as I am sure we both strive to provide correct information.

Fernando

... I don't think Fernando's location for Maringma butte is right because it was not imaged by Mastcam on sol 3349.

I have based the change of location for Maringma on information from the Mission Update for sols 3383-3384.
It includes an image with the legend "Left navigation camera image of the base of Maringma butte". Perhaps I misinterpreted it?

See this Curiosity's MAHLI image from sol 3385. A last drill hole before climbing onto the Greenheugh Pediment?

EDIT: apparently not. On sol 3386 Curiosity moved up-hill by over 20m.

Curiosity is near the access ramp to the Greenheugh Pediment after a drive of just over 23m on sol 3383.
Following a tip from Dr. Catherine O'Connell-Cooper in Mission Updates - thank you! - I moved the location of "Maringma" and tentatively marked "Blackcraig".
Here is the route and target update to sol 3383.

Probable future traverse map.
Very nice - and useful. Please keep it up!

Phil: thank you, that explanation hadn't occurred to me.

Here is my update for Curiosity's traverse on sol 3381. It would seem Curiosity has been driving backwards... literally (see the location of the El Dorado target).

Cusiosity made good progress on sol 3379, driving about 76m east then north.

Update to sol 3378 (location of sol 3376).
Tosol, according to the Mission Updates, Curiosity will be driving north, back to the on-ramp to the Greenheugh Pediment.
I estimate a good 200m of driving before getting on top of it (no diversions!) but we'll see.

Perhaps "The Prow" studies are complete. On sol 3376 Curiosity moved to the west, a drive of about 12m.

Thanks for the tip.
I found it best to set the number of images per page to a high number(500?) and search for just this part of the image label "20210809t223002_61_f__t0005".
