Slippage prevented Curiosity from reaching some targets at The Prow, and it had to back-out.
The full path (in red) was included in the image to help better understand the most recent sols' movements.

Another drive on sol 3363, as discussed on Mission Updates.
Curiosity retraced its track to the middle of "The Prow".

A very short move (the end points of the sol 3359 and 3361 drives are only 20cm apart).

A short move on Monday better positioned Curiosity to study the "inclined rock" Panari.

Update to sol 3356.

Curiosity has passed the 27km mark with a drive of about 28m to the east. Images from sol 3355, but uploaded today, provide solid identification of "Mirador" and, finally, allow me to agree with kymani76's proposed location.

The 3353 drive did not favourably place Curiosity for contact science, so on sol 3354 there was a short drive of just over 1m.
I've added a few names: "The Prow", which is the ledge in front of Curiosity, and of several targets in it (their locations are not exact).
The Update says "Mirador" is a butte 15m to the south, perhaps it is referring to its foot, because the summit of the butte immediatly south is almost 100m distant.

The weekend plan did not fully complete. A drive of about 24m roughly in the east direction took Curiosity to a low ridge.
As usual, I will add later those target names which I cannot, at this time, locate.
I wonder if "Maringma" and "Maringama" (from mission updates for sols, respectively, 3349 and 3350-3352) are the same target.

Would this be the right place to ask if the old route—which I believe had Curiosity using the ramp next to that striking, top-heavy formation (back just a bit now, after this latest drive) to ascend the Greenheugh Pediment—is still the plan?

Hi!
Perhaps it still is. The MSAR-9 (source: https://www.hou.usra.edu/meetings/lpsc2020/pdf/2426.pdf) includes a looping path around the Rafael Navarro Foothills and another knob further south (but, to my knowledge, it is the only MSAR to do so.)

Sol 3347. A drive to the south of about 14m through terrain "with limited visibility".
I will add the name "Mirador" (Lookout point) when I'm able to conclusively locate the "distant butte" it refers to.

On the 4th quarter of 2021 Curiosity climbed a lot, added another drilled hole to its collection and safely passed through the Maria Gordon Notch, stopping in sight of the on ramp to the Greenheugh Pediment.
Exploiting it will be the "piece de resistance" of 2022.

Here is the update to sol 3337.
Per "Mission Updates" Curiosity will remain in this location until early next [Earth] year, so the next route update will be after the next planned drive, in the first days of 2022.

So all the best in 2022, I, for one, am eager to ditch 2021 (but keep all the successes in space exploration).

Thank you very much Phil for all your contributions to UMSF. I will certainly miss your maps, which have greatly helped me, but I do understand. It is time consuming.
Best of luck for your book.

Your maps are invaluable Phil. Even those who do not try may err - by omission.

Update to sol 3322. Loads of great views coming just in time for the holidays. In addition to the great images on the "Roving into the "Sulfate Hills" thread - many thanks to all image wizards - be sure to let http://marslife.org "take you there".

Data from PDS Release 28 has been added:
- Route localization data for sols 0-3217 (the full path has been reviewed and updated)
- Analyst's Notebook data for sols 1-3192

QUOTE (Phil Stooke @ Dec 8 2021, 08:48 PM) *
... location after a short drive on sol 3320.

Phil,
Perhaps I'm wrong but my interpretation of the Misson Updates is that the drive cut short was the one from sol 3319 and the rover did not move on sol 3320.
This seems to be supported by new images from sol 3320 (hindsight is 2020!).
I expect the next drive tomorrow, if all goes well. I will then post a route update with the data from PDS Release 28.

Curiosity is really close to the cliff and there are some nice 3D effects.
