The new image allows refining the position relative to the uncertainty bounding box:

Attached Image

Assuming my registration of the underlying CTX image is not too far off, the new coordinates are (+/- 3m):
Zhurong: 25.0654°N 109.9258°E
Parachute/Back-shell: 25.0599°N 109.9237°E
Heat-shield: 25.0494°N 109.9012°E

PS regarding names:
I could not find "Millevache" but I did find "Millevaches".
"Allas-les-mines" and "Gout-Rossignol" names have hyphens.

QUOTE (Phil Stooke @ May 15 2021, 08:32 AM) *
The coordinates have been moved a bit, to 25.1 N, 109.9 E. That moves it out of the CTX image volcanopele posted and puts it about here:

I found the coordinates Phil mentions on this news site https://m.chinanews.com/wap/detail/zw/gn/20...5/9477804.shtml

Contrast with this GE Mars snapshot of the site area to which I added the Tianwen-1/Zhurong location and uncertainty [+/- 0.05deg] bounding box.

Attached Image

Fernando
PS: I intend to, in a future post, perhaps in the maps thread (hint, hint), cover the two CTX images I have added to GE's Global CTX overlay.
PPS: There aren't any HiRISE images of the area but a HiWish has been registered.

I cant find much information on the instrument loadout

Here is a somewhat detailed article from the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences, M.U.S.T./ Macau Space Exploration and Science Center of the National Space Administration.

The Wikipedia entry is also worth reading.

Hi Phil,
A quick search for Pech du Loup in Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pech+du+L...!4d0.754079
shows it to be close to Nontron. So it looks good. Cheers

Belated update to sol 3052. I was working on improving the quadrants' grid. It now consists of a full grid and another with only the traversed quadrants, both with their respective labels. Each element can be switched on or off independently.
Curiosity is still studying Mont Mercou

Thank you very much Paul. I have corrected the error.

Update to sol 3049.
The Mars Clock was updated:
- The leap seconds table was updated
- The digits display algorithm was improved
- The text in the Help panel was updated
A belated tribute to Ray Bradbury was added to sol 0 (hint: see post #693)
Fernando

Edit: The file has been replaced with a correct version.

A little over 2300 sols, in my case. Glad the route map is useful.

Here is the update to sol 2036. I've made two small changes:
  1. Created two units in the quadrants folder: Grid (hides/displays the quadrants' grid) and Names (hides/displays the quadrants' names). Each can be toggled independently. The units (subfolders) will not be initially visible. Just use the twistie to expand the containing folder.
  2. The route beyond the PDS data has, till now, been a thin white line. I have changed it to a black and white track, the same width as the rest of the path.

Of course that's only provisional, and someone would have to digitize that route.

Someone did ... see post #1392 of the MSL Route Map thread. rolleyes.gif

PS - There should be an update in the relatively near short time
