Looks like a drive downslope (in reverse)

Confirmed! See the Mission Update for sol 2045

An L-shaped drive to the west then north of almost 38m. Definitely passed the 19km mark.

My pleasure, Phil! But I did miss the new names from your post. I will include them in the next installment, possibly Friday.

Phil you're the greatest! The data on which I've been basing the GE path has been corrected. It now shows this:

Hi Phil,
The path is a bit more to the west and has a sharp right (east) turn at the end, so perhaps no more going north.
Curiosity is now about 15m into quadrant 119. Might a new name announcement be imminent (hint, hint)?
Fernando

Edit: the path has been corrected. See Post #1162

Update to sol 1999 (sol 2002). The next drive is just a few hours away and is planned to be about 50m. Will Curiosity leave Torridon?
This update also includes the location data from PDS Release 17. This means the path data for sols 0-1877 and Analyst's Notebook data for sols 1-1869.

... Same problem today - I have a fairly good location but no idea what the path looked like...

More twisting on sol 1989. I guess this shows the terrain is not that easy to navigate... This update to sol 1989 includes Phil's map of the drilling attempts (thanks Phil!).

Edit: My sincere apologies to everyone who had already downloaded the file. I mistakenly posted an old version. The attachment is the now the correct one. Thank you.

It seems Curiosity might stay at sol's 1963 location for a while,to attempt drilling, so here is an update with the latest move.

Hi Paolo, thanks for the reply.
Perhaps I didn't explain conveniently. The error message maybe a Firefox one but the problem also happens with Edge and Chrome (all in Windows).
If I enter http://www.unmannedspacefligt.com it works fine. If I enter https://www.unmannedspaceflight.com then I get the error. It is an SSL problem. It is not possible to log in securely to UMSF. So information may be compromised, the password for instance.
I think we used to be able to log in securely and that changed some time ago. So perhaps the SSL got misconfigured somehow? Thanks

Hi Sean,
Only later did I found out there already is a bit of the route map in it. When I create the KMZ file I use, in plotting the path, a collection of the path's points coordinates (latitude, longitude) in decimal degrees format. They can be extracted from the kmz file but it is not straightforward, so I was offering to send them, perhaps as a csv file. Thanks

Oh Sean this is priceless! Thank you.

Would it be possible to create a version with MSL's route on it? If needed I can send you the coordinates.

Thank you Phil. I do appreciate it. You know that I include in the kmz all the names in your maps, plus several images.

From GE it is a bit difficult to "feel like you are there" and your circular projections, in particular, are quite helpful for me to create a mental image of the place. Please keep them coming! Cheers
