3.)Will Mars Express image the Malin/Edgett gullies in color?

They're not resolveable at the res of the MEX camera.

Yup - I'm more an X-Plane and Orbiter man myself - but saw the addon at the Global FLyer website and reinstalled appropriately smile.gif

I have the full UK VFR Scenery for FS2k4 and have succesfully landed a chopper on my house smile.gif

To be honest - it'd piss me off smile.gif If I want to know the time on mars, I load up Mars24 biggrin.gif Great though the Invision board is -it's cluttered and noisey enough already. It'd be breaking my own rule about excessive signatures ( I HATE signatures that go on and on about peoples PC specification WHY DO I CARE!! )

Hell - what next - BA Flight schedules from Heathrow to KSC in the menu bar tongue.gif

If it was a mound of any height - we WOULD have seen it by now smile.gif

imho - it's a very very erroded crater, much more so than eagle/fram etc - i.e. pre hydrological activity - it'll just be exactly what it appears on the orbital images - a ring of exposed rock perhaps a few CM above the surrounding area with no inner 'dip' or dunes

I wonder if it would be possible to add a mars clock to this forum? At the top of the page so it's always visible. smile.gif

Not easily ohmy.gif Without just stealing the flash one at JPL's site.

Perhaps we should start a thread and just submit questions to it - then if you can find someone appropriate Alan - I can string them together into a coherent set of questions that 'tell the story' fire them off in an email and then report back here?

http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/apio/mars_materials2.htm

http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/apio/pdf/mar...m_synthesis.pdf is a good one

What would appear to be the most obvious change to the current mars roadmap is pushing MSL back to '11 - but flying two - bring the '11 Scout forward to '09 and still fly the telecoms orbiter in '09

Benefits - more time to perfect or redesign the Skycrane, assured comms ability with Telecoms orbiter already in situ - and perhaps an chance to fly an MER copy as the '09 Scout instead as a literal 'scout' for the second MSL.

Obviously Bruce was at some interesting meetings on the same subject - and isnt saying mutch (yet biggrin.gif ) but of the multiple roadmaps presented - that to me would be the obvious call

I've now done two MER talks - one to the University of Leicester Astro Soc, and last night I did one at the Northampton Natural History Society. It went brilliantly, the audience asked good questions, looked very cool with the glasses on - and awe struck without - I did about 45 mins on the MER's - and then Spirits history to date - then tea break - and about 40 minutes on Opportunity.

I'm doing a more technical talk in a couple of weeks again - at the Leic. Uni Astro Soc annual BBQ which should be cool - and that will form the basis of a more technical talk for the BAA Instruments and Imaging section

For UK residents - it's quite possible I'll be doing something at some future BAA meetings in London.

Any fees that I recieve ( none for the first one, but may well be some for the second ) go straight to Comic Relief

And I have to say - I have an absolute BLAST doing them!!

Overall I have been unimpressed with the resolution of the SMART-1 images. I know an amateur astronomer who is literally taking higher-resolution images from his backyard with a C8.

No one can take 27m/pixel images from their backyard - not even the Keck facility smile.gif

No way is that the sun. The exposure required to see the stars that well would have totally bleached out the CCD if it was pointing at the sun

probably just a highly over exposed moon

I think the specific location of LLO essentially got moved to wherever they could sit for 10 days doing IDD work whilst doing a 360 Pancam mosaic of the surroundings smile.gif

I thought this was Vostok. It's about a third the way from the right side of the image, just below the horizon. They've been taking lots of L4 L5 L6 pictures of it for a while now.

No - I've made the same mistake - that's a large crater way out to the east somewhere. (notice the dunes running across the field of view - not in line with it )

Anyone seen a route map that shows the total driving route done within Endurance. I've seen one that shows about the first 60 sols, but nothing that shows the full 6 months worth smile.gif
