Jaw-dropping!
Check out the subtlety of the rim due south as it fades to the limit of vision... this must be what Valles Marineris looks like from the middle. (or the volcanoes).
Too huge to comprehend.

First High-Resolution Color Mosaic of Curiosity's Mastcam Images:

High-Resolution Color Mosaic

What a scenery! There's so much to see. Looks great for a walk. If you look NE towards the rim it almost looks like a road winding down the mountains. I guess, it might be the big channel you can spot on the CTX image.

That hi-res color panorama looks way blurrier than the razor sharp source images, WOW!

Yay! I wonder if you see evidence of the swirling air from the rocket exhaust in this picture:

MSL Wheel High Res

Apart from the awesomeness of seeing the wheel in this clarity on another planet, there are some interesting patterns between the threads.

This is a spectacular panorama. I'm happy to see that my version that I posted earlier where I merged the color from the thumbnail Mastcam panorama with details from the Navcam panorama is now completely outdated - it happened more quickly than I expected.

I notice that at a quick glance there does not seem to be an obvious difference in the amount of dust coating the greyish rocks near the rover and the greyish rocks farther away (I was wondering if the DS engines had possibly blown away some stuff on nearby rocks).

Great - looks similar to many terrestrial mountains.

EDIT: Even though the new panorama is spectacular I'm surprised at how blurry it is compared to the source images, despite the fact that the source images obviously had to be reprojected to make the panorama.

Very nice images!

Also the full resolution subframes include images of the ground closer to Curiosity, and those images are not included in the panorama.

It's funny. I'm just working on new blog entry about MSL and at first I wanted to use excellent mosaic by James Canvin, then yours excellent mosaic and now we have this JPL version.
It's like race! smile.gif

No that is from Mastcam 34, the left camera. But there are thumbnails from the 100 mm.

Yes it really is sharp, wonderful images to view!

I am guessing we are seeing some rocks sticking to the magnets on the sundial?

You are right, James.

I guess we can see with the full resolution 100mm calibration images what the team has scribbled on the calibration target smile.gif

Can I see several light toned ancient streambeds under that rim, or is that just some kind of mass wasting? We know they are up there...

Wonderful evocative images.
