Rosetta flyby of Asteroid Steins, 5th September 2008

Just announced - a set of names for craters and a region on asteroid Steins:

Coming back to this thread because the Rosetta Blog just posted a story about the naming scheme. Here is a global map showing the names:

Note that in the image linked at the top of this thread two different craters are named Obsidian. On my map only one is. I don't pretend I chose the 'right' one, but there is a discrepancy here. I have commented in more detail on the Rosetta blog.

I don't know how to find out which filters OSIRIS WAC used to image this asteroid, but here's an RGB composite of the raw images in sequence, so hopefully it's true-colour: http://www.pictureshack.us/images/72978_ro...-steins-rgb.jpg

IIRC the NAC malfunctioned during that encounter
