Now, it's time to open a new section devoted to the landing of the Philae lander itself on the nucleus of Comet 67P C-G. Also to answer better the earlier post, http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...st&p=212943 and for your information, here is the quick summary (as a "pdf" file) of the events that are expected to occur during landing on the nucleus and after : it's the timeschedule on which we are working to set up our EPO event in Paris. Sequence_ATTERRISSAGE10_UMSF.pdf ( 263.81K ) Number of downloads: 4555 The landing itself should occur around November 11th. We'll keep you informed |

Just offhand, things appear fairly consistent with my recollection of the CIVA mosaics, including the ones we put together here at UMSF. In particular the tilt of around 80 degrees looks good. Perihelion Cliff and other features seem mostly closer to Philae than was thought. Will be interesting to review some of the other features, particularly 180 degrees away from Periheilion Cliff. Solar panel #2 is facing out as it should be.

Our analysis of the ROLIS post-landing images has now been published:
Journal version, arXiv. We are in the process of archiving the original images and, unfortunately, they are not yet available. Thank you for your patience and understanding. |
