Here's a Sol 22 image of the new trenching area at the extreme right edge of the work area. I brightened the shadow to show the whole trench.

Just got my 3D specs from Stu (now there's a buddy...you're my hero, man, never change!!! ), and finally got caught up with the anaglyphs. Wow. Wow. Wow. Had no idea the trench was that deep, nor how undulating the landscape really is. (This one is my fav, though...)
Re soil cohesion: Yeah, there's something sticking that stuff together, all right. Amazed at how sharp-sided the trench is. The Viking digs were very, very crumbly and rounded around the edges...nothing like this at all. I wonder if the subsurface ice is sublimating during the day and refreezing at night at microscopic scales, clinging to soil grains? If so, we should presumably see the sides to start to slowly collapse over time. -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.
