31 July 1964:
JPL team members put the hands in the air in a cheer of joy just moments after the Ranger 7 smashed into the lunar surface. During its dive, the 366 kg spacecraft photographed the lunar surface with the six-camera RCA package. Finally a successful Ranger mission! |
