Dilo, maybe the astronomers of today can see more of the smaller spots than those of 100+ years ago?
I know the Wikipedia chart is based on the area covered, not the number of spots, but surely there were a lot more unobserved spots back then, and this must account for some of that (until-recently) steady increase. |
