Recent article in Science by Zebker et al.:

Key points of article:
"Xanadu seems to be systematically lower than other parts of the equatorial belt, and not uplifted like most mountainous areas on Earth." At first glance the weathering, erosional and depositional processes on a simple planet like Mars would seem to have been easy to understand, but the closer we look at Mars the more complex and alien it becomes.
These processes and conditions on Titan are almost inconceivable and the hydrologic cycle (liquid->gas->liquid) has to be more complex by orders of magnitude. I remember my astonishment while reading JuraMike's wonderful posts on the Atmospheric Chemistry of Titan over the last few years. --Bill -------------------- |
