This topic is for all New Horizons Pluto surface observations received after 1 Feb 2016.
-------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

astounding.. i hadnt noticed the three curious conical features before (see excerpt below), the opposite shadowing from surrounding terrain suggests they are depressions. Eh, I can't be sure whether that is a cone shaped depression, or a shadow effect from a cone shaped mountain? It's interesting to note that the top of the frame shows roughly circular depressions along the meander of the glacial channel, which might be evidence of similar depressions, but on second though could be a result of icebergs calving off. Actually, seeing the cratering effects, I am reminded of the Chesapeake bay crater,
The location of the Chesapeake Bay Impact Crater where the impact crater's dispruption of bedrock seems to have captured the local drainage pattern and determined the location of the bay outlet. |
