QUOTE (StargazeInWonder @ Jun 27 2023, 09:38 PM) *
. . . That's an unusual rock looking like a hexagonal nut near the crest of the hill in the left panel. I wonder if it's as oddly-shaped when seen closer or if there's a bit of an alignment illusion going on.
The oddly-shaped rock can be seen closer in the SuperCam RMI panorama in post #883.
Here is a detail of one of the SuperCam images:

Here's a 360 degree mosaic panorama from Sol 836 with a large version link. Movement is towards the WSW since Sol 821.

Also Sol 838 with a large version. Movement is towards the SSW since Sol 836.

Extended drive animation from Sol 394 to the present.

This link goes to a presentation by Katie Stack at MEPAG in April. Slide 15 has some names for places ahead on the path.

Here's a take from my end on adding in the sky using some Monte Carlo simulations with Sol 838. Full size is here .

Attached Image

A rough guess of 30 degrees solar elevation angle was used. The color (and relative brightness) was processed independently for the actual and simulated sky parts, so it's interesting to see whether they are reasonably close.

Great work throughout the thread!

Neville's panorama from Sol 840 has a big dust devil at upper left, here brought out in contrast from the background terrain.

Drive to the north on Sol 843 (July 4th 2013) takes the rover about 10 meters north to site 41/0.
There's a sizeable boulder in the new workspace, so it looks like there is a possibility of some contact science.

I've circled what I think is the boulder in this NavCam from the previous site.

This is Steve's panorama for sol 838 in circular form. It includes a small patch from one of Paul's images.
