You're crazy.
(well, you did ask) Seriously - you're talking 6+ x the current traverse distance. Even with a grad-student-controlled 3 wheel drive rover in 5 years time - that's just not going to happen. Doug |

Call me crazy, but this is what I think should happen assuming Oppy never dies. Well if we are going to be crazy, I think a drive to the South Pole would have a lot of scientific worth. We could check out Arthur Clarke's "banyan trees." Call me crazy. -------------------- If Occam had heard my theory, things would be very different now.

Believe me I don't expect Oppy to go further than Victoria and I've said that repeatedly. The discussion was brought up as to "what next after Victoria". Let's just get back to Victoria - I think we've digressed enough. |

Yes.
... not long ago, I remember discussions about obvious naming conflicts with features encountered by Spirit on the top of McCool Hill (with the Everest naming theme already taken for Husband Summit)... then came the sudden wheel death and McCool is only a remote dream by now No doubt: it's a lot of fun dreaming and speculating (actually, that's what drives exploration and science at all in the end ... but let's also never forget that those wonderful machines are not immortal ... after nearly ten times life expectancy sudden death could strike virtually any time ... any hour of any given sol ... So let's use every day of given mobility for moving towards our final great goal: Oppy will either reach Victoria or die trying ! |

Next Sol drive, Oppy will meet a very big etched outcrop on the east side of its straight path toward VC.

Tosols drive (789) put Oppy about where your blue line turns east I think

If she turn left...you'll be right Tesheiner. I follow your guess. Any time I've desagreed with you so far, I was wrong!

Well, we currently disagree on the arrival date at VC...
