That HGA + Cover reminds me of the Debris Opportunity is visiting. I always look forward to spacecraft arriving at KSC - it means vast numbers of v.high res images on the KSC media website.
As a side-thought - anyone know why they wrap the HGA's of mars spacecraft ? MO2k1, MGS, MEX - all have a mylar-like covering over the top of the HGA. Doug |

my guess is that it prevents the hga to act as a big radiator, cooling the spacecraft too much. basically an isolation blanket. but I'm not sure

The status report says that MRO is due to ship to KSC "this spring". Well spring is here, so where's MRO?

And often the "Hot Pics" section of the KSC website is the best place for up to date news on what's happening there. The captions can be days ahead of the press releases. |
