QUOTE (nogal @ Jul 22 2015, 05:28 AM) *
The comings and goings in Marias Pass are now kept in separate paths with individualized colors.
I guess the rovers path in Marias Pass is another good example of a science led mission... smile.gif

Slightly belated map update today - sorry to be slow, I'm busy with - you know - real life (shudder).

I just noticed that a new on-line interactive capability has been made available from the MSL JPL pages at http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/ (perhaps from other pages as well).

Named "Explore Mars TREK", it enables seing many features on Mars, as well as the rover's paths. It also has nome nice tools, for instance an elevation profile. I used it to attempt to answer Julius's question of elevation difference between Yellowknife bay and the then current position (Post #608), and obtained +59m.

Update to sol 1056, just a short move to reach the drill target.

Phil, Fernando, Emily, Joe and other map/image wizards, could one of you post a broad view of where we are going? Not as wide view as Fernando's #652--just where we are headed and possibly in color. I looked back to page 25 and couldn't find a proper overview. (Sorry Fernando, probably like many viewers, I do not have Google Mars working yet).

One colour map you might find useful is this one. We're now close to the fork between the "old" and "new" routes.

Emily has higher resolution views (even in stereo) here. After a bit of a detour, we're back on the path she indicated there, about a third of the way from the left side of the map.

Install Google Earth
Load Nogal's KMZ

DONE

Easier than registering for UMSF ;-)
