Sol 2311, quick map which may need editing later - it has a couple of feature names which I can't place properly yet, among other things.

We moved north about 30 m on sol 2313, closer to the base of the ridge. I need to adjust the base image - when you don't know where you are going it's hard to design the map.

The paper "Exploring the Clay-Bearing Unit with the Curiosity Rover", linked to from Emily's Post on another thread - thanks Emily! - shows an update to the notional route depicted in the press release "Mid-2017 Map of NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover Mission" mentioned in my Post.
So here is an update the route through the clay-bearing unit. Instead of changing the older route I added a new route (marked 2019-Feb) that only differs from the previous one on that section shown in the above mentioned paper.
As usual, the KMZ file contains all the previously mapped routes, so you can discard the older KMZ.

Thanks!

Here is an update to sol 2316, moving to a nice outcrop closer to the foot of the scarp.

Hi Phil,
Thank you for your timely posts. This new route seemed sufficiently different to warrant an update.
I always have to caution myself that although these afford us a glimpse of the future they are just planned routes: already the path in sol 2316 is deviating from it!
The ground truth input must have a big weight smile.gif

Sol 2320, a drive off the outcrop and over some small drifts to reach another area of outcrop, Midland Valley.

A little block of names at lower right can't be placed yet but will be located eventually.

Update to sol 2354. Initial viewpoint changed.
This update includes the location data from PDS Release 20:
- Path data for sols 0-2313 has been reviewed and updated
- The path for the Vera Rubin ridge traverse has been segmented, to improve visibility
- Analyst's Notebook data for sols 1-2224 was included

Back on the job after LPSC!

Here is a map update to sol 2357, the latest drive. The clutter of names will be reduced when I move some to close-up maps of specific areas, but if I don't put them all in now I will never remember them.

I found the recent status reports a bit confusing regarding names and locations, so I may have to revise the locations of some of these names later when the names get into the Analyst's Notebook. Meanwhile if anyone has any advice I would be grateful for it.

I have updated the map for sol 2359. We are getting quite close to a very smooth outcrop area which is probably the next drill site.

Very quick update to sol 2361 based on Jan's new partial panorama.
