Looks very interesting - could have a LOT of use in space applications - seems like a form of shape from shading. |

I just noticed this thread, and being a fan of novel computational methods for deriving 3D information from 2D imagery, I couldn't pass it up. This was rather interesting, in spite of the fact that it is theoretically impossible to do such a thing accurately with one image. The technique was more successful than I imagined it would be, but it seems that the distortions are quite apparent.
