I think the aired coverage was probably aimed more at those who do not frequent the standard mission sites where you get the news upfront. Most likely targeted the general public. In those kinds of productions you do have to have a more entertainment based presentation verses provided up to date science info. Gotta keep the general public interested with out "boring" them with the science. smile.gif

I agree that's likely what the thinking is on the part of the producers of these lightweight pieces. But, IMHO, if you want Joe Public to keep from getting bored, play up the sense of wonder aspects, not the cute, smiling host/hostess aspect. Seems to me that Stu's outreach program proves that. (Not that we don't think you're cute and smiling, Stu... wink.gif )

I agree, but we are also in the Reality Cutsie TV era. If I had my way most TV would be focusing on the knowledge and not the cutsie stuff. Unfortunately, many, but not all will only watch what makes them comfortable and what they are use to. But yes, I think if they can be done in a way where they are fun BUT also informative in a constructive scientific way, that would gain a greater interest. It did remind me as if Extra had covered the event smile.gif
