I think she must have done so. By my reckoning, if she clocked over 180m on the last 2 sols, which seems clear, then she is at over 31 km.

Evening all,

I'm sure many will have already done this, but thanks to the work of Pythagoras (and the 100m cubes supplied by Tesh) I would estimate Oppy travelled 140 - 150m each of the last 2 sols.

Absolutely right!
Opportunity was driving so fast this last week and I just forgot to have a close look to the odometer. It's now at 31105m or perhaps slightly more. I will add another "star" to the map on the next update.

...But the subdued crater (probably filled with soft sediments) north of the present position was a must to avoid. Thanks to your map the path chosen by the navigators seems now more obvious smile.gif

I think it's time to post the big picture once again. Given the upcoming holidays on the US my guess it we will stay parked at this site (same as sol 2637) until mid next week.

The KML file is a new one, updated after registering sol 2638 navcam mosaic to the ground.

Scott just tweeted: "With one thing and another (mostly DSN issues), Opportunity hasn't driven for something like 5 days! We make up for that today: almost 5hrs!"
