Ruth Freitag, Librarian to the Stars, Dies at 96
An expert on astronomy, she spent nearly a half-century at the Library of Congress and helped Isaac Asimov and Carl Sagan with research.

Obituary in the New York Times, May 21, 2021 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/21/books/ru...eitag-dead.html
QUOTE
Known for her encyclopedic knowledge of resources in science and technology, Ms. Freitag (pronounced FRY-tog) was sought out by the leading interpreters of the galaxy. She developed a particular expertise in astronomy early in her career.

[H]er crowning achievement was her illustrated, annotated, 3,235-entry bibliography on Halley’s comet, replete with citations of books, journals, charts and pamphlets, as well as references in fiction, music, cartoons and paintings. It was indexed and bound and published by the Library of Congress in 1984, just in time for the celebrated comet’s last pass-by of Earth in 1986. Even the Halley’s Comet Society in London called Ms. Freitag for information.

Thank you for posting Tom. I read The NY Times obituary and came away uplifted. The NY Times is working to tell the stores of amazing people who in the past never made it into the obituary section -- a very positive change.
