no, the reaching-for-smelling-salts-and-a-rolled-up-newspaper arachnophobe from the UK is definitely going with 'hideous'...
(but I agree, well spotted...) -------------------- |

Yep, we breed them big here in Australia.
I'll see if I can download the entire arachnid sequence to play. Personally, I hate spiders, so that image really gives me the creeps PDP8E, don't worry too much about the antenna timelapse. I have every frame recorded and am making a film of the entire construction. I might see if I can post a small version of what I have now on Youtube or somewhere. Meanwhile, I need to find that really big can of insecticide I stashed somwehere. BTW, anyone interested in looking in on the antennas under construction, check out: http://www.cdscc.nasa.gov/Pages/Archive/We...35_webcams.html |

I wrote a little script that takes a peek every once in a while at the Canberra webcam while they build a new DSN dish. I stash the images away in a directory with the hopes that someday I will have the time and skills to do a time lapse movie of the construction. On 2012, day 95, at 5:57am local time I captured this.... AstroO, you might have bugs in your system.... (I tried to focus in, and shrunk the image size a little to get better resolution of the visitor ) [attachment=26674:spider_canberra_b.jpg] Yikes, where's Clint Eastwood and a plane load of napalm when you need him... |

Fantastic spotting, PDP8. Although I'm with Astro0, *shudders*.
Astro0 love the photo. Wish I'd thought of something like that. ;-) (I'm new here...well, been lurking for a few weeks.) |

It'd make an excellent movie poster for "Earth vs. The Spider II", circa about 1959.
