here in Toulouse the weather is fine but I had a frantic morning at work and no time to look at anything else than my desk and pc..

You should have told me it was clear skies in Toulouse, Paolo!!! Here, a mere 50km to the South West, it was cloudy so I had to drive 35kms to get to see it!
It was 9.40 local time so, way to late to see the maximun. Anyway, here it is: -------------------- |

Cloudy as well in Los Angeles, plus there was a good chunk of a planet obstructing the view...

You should have told me it was clear skies in Toulouse, Paolo!!! I said that weather was fine, not that we had clear skies. -------------------- I'm one of the most durable and fervent advocates of space exploration, but my take is that we could do it robotically at far less cost and far greater quantity and quality of results.
