Interests |
For 'interests", w'ere told that the maximum allowed length is 50000 characters, so Space for a biography. but then the forum terms and rules say to think before posting. Considering the number of empty forum profiles we might say that many here are still thinking (or, more likely, are too busy to write anything)
...but even if I don't list my interests, I'd better explain the too-dominant-looking "digger" avatar see above. If you notice the tractor door is open, that's because I hopped out to take the photo, so it was unmanned... …and as all earthlings, it was travelling in space thus complying with article 1.1 of terms and conditions.
The machine is not just an avatar image, but one of the hydraulics-driven Avatars that people trust me with (if you didn't see the film, an [b]A[b]vatar with a capital "A" is a substitute body for exploring an incompatible environnement). On this forum just now, there are several professionnels all with letters after their name, who's mechanical Avatars are running on and around alien planets, minor planets and moons. I'm most envious of one driver on the members list. But, as you might say, I'm not in the same ballpark. I just have an eclectic scientific culture, ideas and some wordsense, but not the rapidity, multitasking, precision, good memory, physionomisme, social networking and mathematical ability needed to make that into a living. However, I'm good at linking between superficially-learnt subjects and have even helped friends in their doc thesis writeups, but won't say more as I plan to keep them (the friends and the writeups).
If I like digging soil, I also like digging for sourced information, notekeeping and even do proper backups (as many have never been taught to). I believe that there is a struggle of information-holders which will become humans versus the Cloud. I have good anticipation on technological developpements, often spotting errors that led to missed opportunities and even disasters (not saying examples here, see article 2.6).
Hélène (my wife) thinks I could and should do more, but I doubt it: Am happy to have the independence and freedom of expression that others lose to Institutions. As millions around the world, I'm grateful to Internet for the opportunity to make the minor nudge to influence the right idea authored by the right person at the right time. Call it an orientated butterfly effect; taking care to avoid noisy flapping against the windopane, here on the forum is a good place for it. |
