I noticed that a reconstructed CK kernel has appeared at the NAIF website. This was a bit surprising to me because Jupiter was in solar conjunction on April 11. So in case anyone was wondering, the absence of images is normal and nothing should be expected to appear until several days from now (next week?).

Maybe they were able to play back HK’ing data before the conjunction period started?

The first images are up on missionjuno. The approach images are getting better but it's certainly getting darker with Perijove reaching the terminator. However northern jet streams, and even what appear to their shadows, are nicely visible in detail.

Point 1: Those images are wonderful, Kevin (and everyone else involved) and those turbulent areas look magnificent.

Point 2: No disrespect to Jupiter itself, but every successful non-Io perijove brings us closer to another of the upcoming Io perijoves which keep getting closer! That is the drama in the front of my mind while new Jupiter imagery is in the back, but both are wonderful to behold!

eh, I'm perfectly happy to take a perijove off and see all the magic folks like Brian, Kevin, and Bjorn develop. Plus after all the drama in December and early this year, I'm just happy to see the camera continue to function.

Several HUFFMAN compressed (yay) images from initial downlink.
Exaggerated color/contrast.

PJ50_61, approximately true color/contrast and enhanced versions:

The color of the approximately true color/contrast versions might be less accurate here than in other images where the illumination is stronger. This is because possible noise and scattered light may be a bigger proportion of the pixel values here than it would be in images showing more brightly lit areas farther from the terminator.
