These are Damia's last two panoramas in circular form showing the rover surroundings in a more map-like format.

What are these two parallel streaks visible in Navcam Sol 2255 images? https://mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?r...91M_&s=2255 (near the centre of the image)
Doesn't look like rover tracks. -------------------- Curiosity rover panoramas: http://www.facebook.com/CuriosityRoverPanoramas

Look at the panorama from that sol which Damia has posted at the top of this page. There are tracks all over the place, old and new. That darker spot with parallel lines in it is similar to occasional spots elsewhere with fragments of tracks like that - some show zigzag tracks, others are short sections of parallel lines. Especially, look in the foreground below that dark spot where faint tracks from a previous sol show up in the gravelly soil. I think your darker spot is just a small patch of sand in the gravelly surface which happens to capture a short section of track with parallel imprints. The rest of the track is less defined in the gravel, but that bit stands out.

Hmm, looks potentially drillable! The thing to look out for will be whether the drill leaves a mark after a preload test.

DD/gust action on 2256. It looks like we can see a distant one develop perhaps almost from the start. At the end we get a large gust close to us that's easily visible on the original frames, so these stretched versions go off the scale:
(The early ones are pretty subtle so are easier to see in these difference plots, rather than summed to the original frames.) |
