I found around this incredible opensource "reality simulator", called "Rigs of Rods":
http://wiki.rigsofrods.com/pages/Portal Although it's defined a "game"... it's not, actually, as it implements a really complex physics simulator, as you can see from videos. Why posting this here? Here it is the answer: http://repository.rigsofrods.com/show/openmoon-rover.zip You don't need to look at the whole video to get the point, I guess... I know there's a bunch of people in this forum very good in image and data manipulation: I wonder what they would be able to do by joining 6-years of spirit/opportunity data to Rids of Rogs engine power! |

For simulating orbital operations and spaceflight physics in a fun and accurate way check out Orbiter. I've been following this sim for years and it gets better with every iteration. There are quite a few add-ons consisting of historical manned missions, sci-fi ships, unmanned probes like the Voyagers and satellites and present and near-future(quite plausible) craft. This is not a game, so if you're looking to blow stuff up then you'll need to look elsewhere.
