Since many people enjoy statistics on Oppy and Spirit, I thought I'd pass along some numbers for MRO given at the February "Proposed 2018 NASA and ESA Joint Rover Mission" workshop. As of late February:
HiRISE 22,108 images/2591 stereo pairs/1.42% of surface covered
CRISM 19,118 targeted observations/77% surface cov @ 200 m res in 72 channels/17% surface cov 200 m 260 chs
CTX 43,582 images/70.9% surface covered
SHARAD 10,366 observing strips
MARCI 97% of Mars monitored for 2.8 Mars years with Daily Global Maps
MCS 87% Mars monitored for 2.8 Mars years = 73.5 million profiles
Gravity 2.8 Mars years
Science Data Return = approx. 150.2 terabits
Instrument Degradations: HiRISE 1 of 14 CPMMs (CCD chips) failed, reducing swath width by 10%
(extra swath length obtained to maintain allocated data amount)
CRISM 1 of 3 cryocoolers failed resulting in strategy to make IR observations only 2 of every 8
weeks (much of which is for proposed future landing sites)
