Hi Folks,
Thought some of you Rock Scientists would find the following interesting: BBC report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6434011.stm OneGeology homepage: http://www.onegeology.org/ Cheers Brian -------------------- "There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary code, and those who don't."

Some 6 or 12 months ago, I saw a report of a new ??? Geologic Society of America ??? "Geologic Map of North America" (or of the United States" that was the first new "full-up" map compliation since the 1960's or so... Vastly more detail and units and actual formation ages and stuff, also sea floor and the like geology. I made a note <now buried somewhere> that that was a "should get". It sounded really worthwhile.

If you see that US map again, I'd be interested in tracking it down too.

Seems like these folks have already done it, just not a web available version. What would be different in the OneGeology Project, more detail?
The Geological Map of the World, at the 1:25 M scale (3 sheets) and at a reduced format (1:50 M) on a single sheet, more fitted to teaching purposes. A digital interactive version of the map is also available on CD. – Dr. Philippe Rossi CGMW 77, rue Claude-Bernard 75015 Paris, France Phone: +33 1 47 07 22 84 Fax : +33 1 4 3 36 95 18 E-mail: ccgm@club-internet.fr www.cgmw.org |
