I’m Jake Matijevic and I’ll be giving the Flight Director’s Report for September 20th 2005.

Today is sol 610 on Spirit in the early afternoon and yesterday and today Spirit will be continuing its investigation of a soil scuff and some undisturbed drift material sitting at the top of Husband Hill. This has been a part of a longer investigation, which has included taking some fairly significant panorama images of the area on the other side of the Columbia Hills, the basin area, as well as investigating these interesting deposits at the top of Husband Hill. Spirit will be moving on in the next day or so to another quasi-summit area to complete its panorama images of the basin area in preparation for further driving and investigation in the basin itself.

On the other side of the planet, Opportunity has been driving along the Erebus Highway. It completed another 22 meters or so just yesterday. And over the next several days it should be shortly arriving at the rim of Erebus Crater, which is clearly visible in the images at this point.

Both vehicles are healthy and that’s what’s going on on Mars today.
