Glurk! Another name glitch. This time it's Rannoch Moore, which I feel compelled to correct to Rannoch Moor. Please don't tell me there's somebody called Rannoch Moore out there (maybe related to that well-known family the Yorkshire Moores). Anyhoo, here's my map update to sol 2658, a great location on the slope of the Greenheugh Pediment.

Perhaps we just have to get used to this. The map of America itself is strewn with mis-spellings, not to mention mispronunciatons. To give them the benefit of the doubt perhaps Rannoch was Patrick's great auntie.

Even when the names are from Scotland there are plenty I don't recognise and so couldn't correct. In other parts of the world like Namibia or Mongolia it's quite likely nobody would point out the errors.

Thanks, Nogal, It's great to have the kmz view of this.

Here's my map - the last bit of the route will need a bit of adjusting.

Phil,
Much appreciated. I am happy the route map is useful. To create it I benefit from your work as well.
I am all for collaboration, the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.

Update to sol 2664, moving to the hoped-for drill site. We will probably be here for quite a while.

Update to sol 2691. Curiosity seems ready to "assault" the Greenheugh Pediment!

Here is my updated map for sol 2691. Lots of those big blocks of names will be spread out among close-up maps later. Looks like I need to extend it to the south, assuming we are successful in this climb - but success is not guaranteed.

Update to sol 2695. Curiosity has made it to the top of the slope. Well done!
Crossing the Greenheugh pediment will not be easy, judging from the orbital pictures, but the drivers are "out of this world". wink.gif

Here we are on top of the pediment! That was quite a bit of driving.

Update to sol 2700. Looks like we will drill very close to this location. I say we, I mean of course 'they' but I like to think we are all along for the ride.
