did you see Jupiter and Mercury as well? I've been catching them after sunset in Santa Monica, CA. It's been really clear!

I managed to go out and spot them just now. Almost setting, they were at the same horizontal level -- it looked like they were flying in formation, low over the mountains to the southwest of me. I can really understand how someone who didn't know what was going on could take it into his head to report them as a pair of alien ships.
