Good news. MGS is taking pictures again.
http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/2005/09/09/ Hopefully there's still time to image MPL... |

A new world record - Mike Malin releases an image less than 6 months after it was taken
![]() To be fair - he wasnt too shoddy with the MER stuff, but usually he's terrible! Doug |

QUOTE (djellison @ Sep 9 2005, 01:51 PM) Wow, if "usually he's terrible" is 25% truthfull, I'd LOVE to hear some sarcastic "Mars Express image policy" remarks ![]() ![]() ![]() That reminds me, there's a new Mars Express image. ( Yes, this is no joke ) http://www.esa.int/SPECIALS/Mars_Express/SEMKW9A5QCE_0.html The previous release was in July. No... not July 2004. So it's not THAT bad. ![]() |

Was MGS able to image the MPL crash once more after it recovered from its computer glitch ?

September 10th was the last opportunity to image MPL with cProto resolution. That's about a 100 hours ago. I guess you're as eager as me (and others on this forum) to see what happened, but we need some more patience i'm afraid... What i know is that it recovered before that date, however, i don't know about the status of it by the 10th.
What i do know is that imageing the crash site with this technique asks an accuracy in knowledge of the orbital position of MGS to within 30 milliseconds. ![]() |
