My personal call would be to land a mid-range rover every opportunity for a decade.... If one of them shows that the site is absolutely compelling ("organics"), then move post haste to MSR. As said, "don't forget the orbiters". Organics have been found on Mars -- the methane. But we need a specialized orbiter to look for methane hot spots. Otherwise looking for organics with rovers is shooting in the dark. |
