That HGA + Cover reminds me of the Debris Opportunity is visiting. I always look forward to spacecraft arriving at KSC - it means vast numbers of v.high res images on the KSC media website.

As a side-thought - anyone know why they wrap the HGA's of mars spacecraft ? MO2k1, MGS, MEX - all have a mylar-like covering over the top of the HGA.

my guess is that it prevents the hga to act as a big radiator, cooling the spacecraft too much. basically an isolation blanket. but I'm not sure

"The flight's Lockheed Martin Atlas V launcher is to be delivered to Cape Canaveral by late March, followed in late April by delivery of the MRO spacecraft, says Kevin McNeill, Lockheed Martin program manager for the spacecraft."

AWST story

Thanks cIclops! smile.gif I'd completely forgotten about that AWST article. rolleyes.gif One of the best written on MRO so far, IMO.

Gotta love the snap-happy KSC photographers! And often the "Hot Pics" section of the KSC website is the best place for up to date news on what's happening there. The captions can be days ahead of the press releases.
