Unmanned Spaceflight.com _ Chang'e program _ Ouyang Ziyuan talks about Chang'e 3, 4 and China's deep space plan

It seems this doesn't fit into any topics, so I start a new one...

The Wen Wei Po of Hong Kong published a long, exclusive interview with Ouyang Ziyuan, the CLEP chief scientist known as "the father of Chang'e", Ouyang mentioned a lot of details about Chang'e 3, 4 and some future planetary missions...

This one address the issue of Chang'e 3: http://paper.wenweipo.com/2014/04/16/CH1404160017.htm , there is some details about how Yutu hibernates and what isn't working at the moment (APXS is on the list).

This one discloses the discussion for Chang'e 4: http://paper.wenweipo.com/2014/04/16/CH1404160016.htm , says that it may land on the South Pole, or test the lunar re-launch technique, or may be directed to Mars.

This one talks about CNSA's future visions: http://paper.wenweipo.com/2014/04/16/CH1404160020.htm , nothing definitive yet but it mentioned that the CAS space science development plan targets a manned lunar mission in 2020-30s. Ouyang comments that a Mars mission is yet to be approved but "2018 may be a good guess".

ADMIN: Please note that while the final report contains reference to manned spaceflight, UMSF's longstanding http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?act=boardrules does not permit discussion on that topic. See rule 1.6. Thank you.

News about Cháng'é-4:

http://ibnlive.in.com/news/china-to-launch-moon-mission-with-private-investments-before-2020/533566-2.html

QUOTE
Beijing: For the first time, China will launch its Chang'e-4 lunar probe with private investments before 2020, the government said on Thursday.

The probe will conduct technical experiments and collect data. The lunar mission will pilot a program that uses private investment from individuals and enterprises for the first time, a move aimed at accelerating aerospace innovation, cutting production costs and promoting military-civilian relationships, according to the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (SASTIND).

It will also expand investments allowed into military industry, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Chang'e-4 began as a backup probe for Chang'e-3. Since Chang'ge-3's lander and rover successfully landed on the moon in 2013, Chang'e-4 will be given a new mission, which will be decided after further study.

My hopes to see another moon rover are fading... sad.gif
