Yes, very nice. I hope we will see more.

Here's a quick update to sol 2613. I will add in some names later.

Sol 2616, still moving up the slope of Western Butte towards its summit. Thoughtful of the science team to name the butte after my university.

EDIT: replaced original with a corrected copy.

Update to sol 2618. As noted in the Mission Update for Sols 2620-2630 Curiosity will be busy at this location for the remainder of 2019, so time for me to take a break.
Season's Greetings and see you all next year.

A new map base for a new year. I have not figured out where the feature called Hells Glen is (maybe the trough just east of the rover?) - but when I do I will locate it properly.

No, Hell's Glen is a local feature near the rover. This update takes us to sol 2643. Many of the names in that long list will be moved off onto a local map when I get their locations from the PDS Analyst's Notebook in due course.

Update to sol 2644. Curiosity has rolled alongside the trough, inspecting it.

Hi Phil. I have been puzzling over the name 'Lochmond Hills' since it first appeared. Whilst the original Lomond Hills are familiar enough (in the county of Fife, not connected with the more famous Loch Lomond) I have never heard of Lochmond Hills. The similarity between the two names is suggestive of an incompletely corrected error resulting in duplication. Of course it's possible there is a whole range of hills somewhere in Scotland that I've never heard of. Just wondering . .

That's exactly what i thought, but it seemed there might be some Lochmond Hills as well, if Google is our guide. A closer look showed all the references to Lochmond Hills (near Ben Vorlich) seem to be from one source which is probably a typo. On the next map I think I will drop that name, even though it does appear in the status reports.
