I expect two points of light at this point. Images will overtake Hubble at t- 10 weeks from close approach, though observation will start 5 months earlier (see http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/mission/mission_timeline.php) .

Your link is 404'ing.

ADMIN NOTE: Rather than make that unhelpful post, wouldn't it have been better to look at the URL and check to see what the error is?
It is obvious that the 'close bracket' ')' is the error in the posted link, you could have easily remedied it yourself and posted the correct one.
Remember that UMSF is about contributing information.

Corrected link:

The cameras were bolted to the spacecraft in that orientation probably about two years ago....

Yes, we know -- it was a joke.

Is it too late to send a message to Grail telling it to turn it's phone horizontal?

News conference coming up on Thursday!

Phil

Phil, why should I watch this news conference? You clearly stated in your last post that there would be not be a 'new scoop'.

I'll see myself out

The best thing about flicker gifs is you can make just about anything look 3D (not my work).

Flicker Gifs are my favorites as well. Is the current movie type 3d with the tinted glass any closer to being an option instead of anaglyths?

Yet another youtube video of the MARDI frames so far, gaps and all. I applied some quick and dirty brightness/contrast/sharpness filtering--maybe a little garish, but hey, these things are superseded with each new batch of MARDI frames anyway:

(topical soundtrack added)

Very nice especially with the soundtrack.

It's amazing that the science coming from the Voyagers hasn't really egressed in the 30+ years they've been in service.

UMSF fans--

To make this happen we have to implement some instrument and spacecraft software and autonomy/fault protection changes, but those have been approved by NASA as of last week, so we're off to the races.

-Alan

Is this a done deal or are you expecting some arm twisting?
