The New York Times has published an obituary for Carolyn Shoemaker.

I had a small part in this. A staffer on the NYT obituaries desk told me two weeks ago that Carolyn Shoemaker was not on their radar. She suggested that I could send them an email making the case for a NYT obituary, with links to source material, including any prior NYT coverage of her work. I did that, with help and encouragement from john_s.

A couple of days ago a NYT reporter called to tell me that he was working on the obituary. I think he did an excellent job.
