I really really like these. I don't know why this thread has no other replies. Some here will recall that I have a long-term gripe about panoramas having ends when they should go right round. This is one solution that seems to work with no fuss. Another (simpler but just as effective in my view) was andyG's cylindrical endless pans (posted in this thread but sadly the links to the pans themselves don't work):http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=4735.

That raises an obvious question - Are your VR products a permanent part of UMSF now or are they on some other server that may not be working when somebody looks at your post in 5 years' time?

I'm quite sure I remember seeing similar VRs many years ago (I think it was with Quicktime?) on this very forum. Perhaps that's why there's less replies. Vanden did great work anyway!

This VRs are on free hosting ... I can not guarantee their availability eternal ...

I also seeing similar VRs, but I have not seen all the "official" panoramas and they are scattered everywhere (on the forum and on other sites). Sometimes they do not have the original resolution, and personally for PC users I find Flash more convenient than QuickTime (because most used on PC).

Thank you very much indeed Vanden for sharing this! I have spent the last hour going round and round and round again, revisiting all these places that Spirit recorded for us in her better times!

I discovered just tonight how much I have actually missed, and still does, receiving new pictures of Gusev crater... and it struck me that I will never, ever see new vistas of this amazing place. It's like in that part of the Lord of the Rings movie: The way is shut.

Gale has just opened up, but still, what a view we had from the top of Husband hill!! How I miss these days when we were all wondering if Spirit would actually make it to the top!! And the girl did just that!

So then again, thanks for bringing us back to Gusev and her brave explorer Spirit!!

I had only just noticed this. Very useful and very beautiful! Maybe Emily could host them on a more permanent basis.

Abso-tively. For VRs, what I need is a still version (JPEG or PNG or whatever, downsampled is okay), and then I can catalog the VR along with that. It would really really help if someone could write captions to each one for me -- sol number (or range), Earth date (or range), and a sentence or two about the context for the rover being in that particular place at that particular time. These captions may exist already somewhere and just need to be copied and pasted.
